Aoki des a phenomenal job of bringing her play to life. It was fortunate that she was able to compose her own music to create the perfect atmosphere for each transition through her life. Her ability to differentiate between each character with different accents, inflections, and language. For example for Kali, he had a thick accent and utilized a lot of slang while her white friends spoke clearly and proper. I believe this really set the play apart because it was unique from a normal stage presentation. This format fit perfectly because Queen's Garden is a one women show. Aoki's interpretation of her characters helped to further develop them so that audiences could truly understand the differences between Westside and the students in Aoki's class.
Personally, I feel that scenes such as the riot, speeding down the highway, and the final scene were hard to understand as a listener. They were abrupt and hasty that it sounded like she was describing a dream and it lacks in the realistic approach used in the rest of the play. Otherwise, I think the audio recording was interesting and effective in capturing Aoki's story.
